Registration and enrolment

• your university account details
• if you are a new student, you will need to submit a recent photo (similar to a passport photo) to be used on your student ID card. If you’re having any issues, you can have your photo taken on campus in one of our Ask Herts Hubs in Hutton Hub, College Lane or on de Havilland Campus
• identification documents such as a scan or photo of your passport photo page or your full UK Birth Certificate and UK driving license photocard
• your Student Finance England Student Support Number (SSN) if you are paying your fees via a student loan, this will ensure that our team can confirm you have a valid student loan application
• if you’re being sponsored by a private company, we will need a written confirmation on company headed paper and a signed agreement to sponsor form
• if you're registering for a Degree Apprenticeship course, you will not be required to complete the agreement to sponsor form
• if your legal name is different to the one on your passport, you will need to upload a copy of your marriage certificate or name change by deed poll documents.

• if you’re already living in the UK, you will need your physical passport, your right-to-study share code and your Home Office decision letter under the EU Settlement Scheme to confirm the start of your status. if you have pre-settled status under the EUSS, you do not need to attend an in-person face-to-face registration appointment
• if you’re entering the UK for study, you will need your physical passport (European Union identity card is also accepted) and your student visa which is a combination of your Home Office Decision Letter and your right-to-study share code
• if you are studying on a course that lasts less than six months, you will not be able to generate a share code, however you will be required to provide your physical passport and proof of entry into the UK, this can come in the form of your boarding passes, an entry stamp in your passport or an e-ticket
• if your legal name is different to the one on your passport, you will need to bring your marriage certificate and name change deeds.

• if your vignette has not been stamped, or if you have not been issued a vignette, please bring your boarding pass (physical or digital) or other proof of entry into the country
• please also be aware that if you are joining us from abroad and are intending to self-fund your studies (e.g. if you are intending for your family or friends to pay your tuition fees), you must meet the fee liability deadlines to complete your registration

• please be aware if your visa is granted as you are a dependent upon another visa, please bring a physical or electronic copy of the eVisa and the passport of the person of whom you are depending upon.

As an international student, a 50% payment is required to study in the UK. This will be treated as a deposit to secure your place at the university before enrolment. The deadline for your 50% payment is 2 February 2026. You can find more on fees and liability dates on our website.

If you’re a national of Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, or the United States of America, you will also need to bring the following documents to your appointment:

• evidence of your arrival into the UK such as e-gate tickets, flight details, booking itinerary showing the date of arrival
• copy of a boarding pass for your flight arriving in the UK.
